Welcome! |
| You have reached George and Davids' Coilgun Page. We started working on electromagnetic induction back in 10th grade in 1999. We then proceeded to work on our guns for a year and a half for the science fair. We ended up winning grand prize for Fairfax County Science fair and were finalists at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in 2002. We are now both in college and have continued our interests in Coilgunnery. I hope you enjoy this site and its resources. |

* * * * * 1-6-04 - Happy New Year! The new year has brought in a new webhost for our coilgun site. It should be signifigantly faster and the DNS will properly point to http://coilgun.eichingers.com. Also, I have put up a coilgun forum on the same server at http://www.eichingers.com/coilforum/ I hope you all check it out and post something. In Coil related news, I have bought a bunch more caps and some IGBT's. I am going to work on a new automated firing system real soon. 3-21-03 - We are now testing a new forum out at http://galileo.spaceports.com/~georgefe/ . If you have a second, check it out and post some of your thoughts and ideas. Also, hit the banner for good measure cause its on a free test server that requires a minimum number of clicks per visit :(. If people like the forum and start to use it a lot, I'll pick up a new more robust host for the site and get rid of the host and consequently the banner. 3-19-03 - Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of those men and women who are in war supporting our nation and the international community. 11-10 -02 - Yeah, I have not updated for a long long time. However, tons of people are still visiting the site so we decided to get back into it. A lot has happened since the last posting. After states we went to international competition in Louisville, Kentucky. There we did not place but it was an excellent experience and an honor just to be there. A couple of months after the competition, we were informed by the Washington Space Business Roundtable that we won a $2,600 prize each for our work at International Science Fair. A history of all our awards is under Awards. Also, set 5 is entered under pictures which is the set right before internationals. About us is also updated considering both David and I are currently at college. 4-14-02 - We got hosed at states. We won Honerable Mention but we were screwed by the system. But I'm not bitter, of course not ;) Anyway, off to International's in May so we can kick some more butt! 3-10-02 - WE WON GRAND PRIZE FOR THE FAIRFAX COUNTY SCIENCE FAIR. WE WILL BE ON AN ALL EXPENSE PAID TRIP TO LOUISVILLE KENTUCKY FOR INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE FAIR IN MAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, we won a total of $1,080 each for our work along with a trip to a Air Force munitions base in Florida. Go Science Fair! Obviously, pictures and such have been updated with todays events. They are under set 4. 3-10-02 - Major update to the site, I have added the programs section, the about us section, the projects section and added 3 sets of pictures to the picture section. 3-09-02 - WE WON FIRST PLACE AT THE FARIFAX COUNTY SCIENCE FAIR FOR TEAM ENGINEERING. We were also a Grand Prize Nominee so we shall see how we do tommorrow! We are now preparing for states so look for a lot more theory and circuit boards. :)
